Choosing a new name
Published on 30th Sep, 2011CHOOSING a new name for our company was an important task, so we decided to invite every member of our team to get involved. And just to make things interesting, we decided to throw in a little incentive to get the creative juices flowing.
Whoever selected the winning name would be handed a state of the art Apple iPad as their reward. Everyone was given the opportunity of selecting a title that would identify our company and what we do.
It wasn’t long before suggestions were flying in, from Madagascar, Manila and New Caledonia.
After a thorough, rigorous screening process, we selected Callidus. A Latin word, we felt that our company and everything we do is synonymous with the definition of Callidus: clever, skillful, dextrous, experienced, ingenious and prudent. The man behind our shiny new title is Rodney Muse, from investment partners Navis Capital.
Not content with defining Callidus as our company title, Rodney then very generously rejected his prize and asked us to donate it to charity. Callidus CEO David Wood said: “We will donate the iPad on Rodney’s behalf to the burns unit at Royal Perth Hospital in Perth, Western Australia.”
Once we’d chosen Callidus, our Mechanical Draftsperson, Sarah Maher, used her skills to come up with the new Callidus brand logos.
We hope you like our name. Welcome to Callidus.
